Dust jacket of Vol. 2 has small (> 1/4") chip to top edge; light wear to top and bottom edge; both volumes protected in clear cover. An excellent reference for the birder, naturalist or ornithologist. Dorst offers a reference that is both a biological study of birds, as well as an ecological view on their place in the natural world. Volume 1 focuses on the adaptation of birds to the mechanisms of flight. Volume 2 focuses on how birds adapt to different environments. A beautiful set.

Contains 16 beautiful color plates of Peterson's painting, and 12 pages of black and white photos of his life. A lovely and fascinating account of Roger Tory Peterson's life. A worthwhile read for birders, naturalists and anyone interested in natural history.
